Hidden stories of the building

The Tropenmuseum is housed in the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) a building full of murals and ornaments. Listen to the stories that this old historical building and its murals tell about Holland’s colonial past.

Would you prefer a tour on the weekend? An additional charge of € 200 an hour is required to cover extra security.

Advance booking

Because of increasing demand, we require four weeks advance notice for reservations. That enables us to cater for your wishes. With shorter notice, we cannot guarantee that we can meet your reservation requests. You can cancel at least two weeks before your visit. Mail your cancellation to educatie@kit.nl. A fee of € 50 is charged for reservations cancelled at shorter notice.

Late opening: on request, the museum can stay open during the evening, exlusively for your group. This costs € 450 per hour, or part hour, from 5pm (excl. museum entrance).

Catering: enjoy lunch at Ekeko, the museum restaurant. For more information see www.ekeko.nl.
